APEX · Last updated 31 October 2026
APEX is a Formula 1 companion app made by WeForBit, a brand of Sumarios & Resumos, Unipessoal, Lda ("we"). We built it to collect as little as possible: there are no accounts and no tracking, and the few ads APEX shows are never personalised.
What stays on your phone
- Your favourite driver and team, your time display choice and your reminder settings.
- Cached standings, calendar data and images, so the app and its widgets work offline.
- A random install ID, created on first use. It isn't linked to your name, email or phone number.
Uninstalling the app deletes all of it.
What reaches our server
- Data requests. The app asks our server for standings, results, the calendar and images. Like any web server, ours and our hosting provider see your IP address and keep it in short-lived logs for security and troubleshooting.
- Predictions. Your pole and podium picks are kept on your phone. A copy goes to our server with your install ID, so each phone counts once and can change its picks; only the totals are shown to anyone. The picks are deleted when a new season starts.
- Fan room. When you join a live session, the app sends your install ID so each phone gets one vote per poll. Reactions and votes are counted in memory and discarded after the session. There is no chat and nothing is linked to you.
Notifications
Session reminders are scheduled on your phone. Live alerts (red flags, safety car and so on) are delivered by Google's Firebase Cloud Messaging: your phone subscribes to the alert topics you switch on, and Firebase handles the delivery token. We don't receive or store that token. See Firebase's privacy information.
On iPhone, the live card is a Live Activity on your Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island. If you let it start by itself when a session begins (the default), the app sends our server your install ID and a "push-to-start" token from Apple, which only lets us start the APEX Live Activity on your iPhone. We use it for nothing else and delete it when you choose "When I join live", switch on spoiler mode, or when Apple tells us the token no longer works (for example after you delete the app). Updates during a session go out once to everyone through Apple's broadcast service, which doesn't identify you to us.
Calendar
If you add a race to your phone's calendar, APEX asks for calendar permission and only writes the race sessions. It doesn't read your other events. If you subscribe to the APEX calendar feed instead, your calendar app (for example Google Calendar or Apple Calendar) fetches the feed from our server.
Crash reports
If the app crashes or hits an unexpected error, it sends a crash report to Sentry (Functional Software, Inc.), stored in the EU. A report holds the error and where in the app it happened, the app version, the phone model and system version, and the screens opened just before. It doesn't hold your name, email, IP address or install ID, nor anything you typed or saw on screen. We use these reports only to fix bugs, and Sentry deletes them after 30 days. See Sentry's privacy policy.
Ads
APEX is free, and a few ads help pay for the servers and the data. They come from Google AdMob (Google Ireland Limited) and are never personalised: the app asks Google for non-personalised ads only, doesn't read your phone's advertising ID, and on iPhone never asks to track you. Google picks an ad from the screen it appears on and your rough location (country or city, from your IP address). Its ad software uses data such as your IP address, the phone model and system version, and whether you saw or tapped the ad, to show the ad, limit how often you see it, count it and prevent fraud. See how Google uses information from apps that use its services.
In the EEA, the UK and some US states, Google's consent form asks before anything is stored on your phone for ads; you can change your answer in Settings › Ads › Privacy choices. You can also turn ads off in Settings › Ads. The app then doesn't start Google's ad software at all, and nothing else changes.
What we don't do
We don't sell personal data, show personalised ads, use analytics or tracking SDKs, or build profiles. Crash reports (above) are only for fixing bugs.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you can ask what we hold about you, and have it corrected or erased. Because we hold no account data, most requests are answered by "nothing". Contact us at info@apexyourgrid.com and include your install ID if the question is about the fan room. You can also complain to your data protection authority (in Portugal, the CNPD).
Children
APEX isn't aimed at children under 13 and doesn't knowingly collect their data.
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update the date above. Significant changes will also be announced in the app.
